What is Florida Healthy Kids (FHK)?
FHK is for children (ages 5 through 18) from families who earn too much money to qualify for Medicaid. Those who qualify for FHK can get coverage for as low as $15 or $20 per month.

Medicaid provides health care coverage for low-income adults, children, pregnant women, elderly people and people with disabilities. In Florida, regular Medicaid is known as Managed Medical Assistance (MMA).
In addition to Medicaid MMA, Florida also offers Long-Term Care (LTC). This program offers long-term services and support for those who receive Medicaid and need a higher level of care. If eligible, you can get these services at home or in a nursing or other assisted living facility.
It’s the umbrella brand that includes these four government-sponsored health
insurance programs:
Medicaid
MediKids
Florida Healthy Kids (FHK)
Children’s Medical Services (CMS) health plan
Together, these programs provide low-cost coverage for Florida kids (from birth
through age 18). Options include no-cost, low-cost and full-cost coverage. This is
based on family income and household size.
Of the four programs, we serve Medicaid and Florida Healthy Kids.

Do you qualify for Medicaid MMA?
You may qualify for Medicaid MMA if you:
- Live in Florida
- Have low income
- Are a U.S. citizen or qualified immigrant
- Are pregnant
- Are disabled and/or blind
- Don’t receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- Are a non-citizen with a medical emergency
- Were previously in foster care and are currently under age 26

Do you qualify for FHK?
To qualify, you or your child must:
- Live in Florida
- Be between ages 5 and 18
- Be a U.S. citizen or qualified immigrant
- Be able to meet income requirements
- Not be eligible for Medicaid

Do you qualify for LTC?
To qualify for LTC services, you must:
- Be 18 years or older
- Be eligible for Medicaid
- Be screened for LTC eligibility
- Need long-term services and support and/or a nursing facility level of care
- Meet hospital level of care if you have cystic fibrosis
If you think you need or qualify for LTC benefits, the first step is to enroll in Medicaid. After you’ve been approved for Medicaid, the state will send you a letter letting you know if you’ve been approved for LTC benefits.
